Candy Muscle 7inch – The Headache Trilogy

Here is the well-known Candy Muscle 7inch from Robb and Dennis. We were doing the Audiowreck thing at the same time this was being recorded. I remember being over at Robb’s place before one the Audiowreck practices – i feel like it was near Harris Street or Jacobs or some area on that side of town – anyway he had the 8 track machine set up and I thought it was so cool he was using a reel-to-reel.

Garden Weasel – Live on KHSU – Feb. 1991

This was in Ed Cole’s collection. Just like the title says, Garden Weasel live on KHSU sometime in February 1991. I never saw this band. Here is a link to Ed’s blog:

Dieselhed – Dieselhed

Well here’s what wikipedia has to say:

Dieselhed formed in 1989 in Arcata, California later moving to San Francisco, California, playing a blend of country, punk, and pseudo-classic rock. Drummer Heifetz spread his time between Dieselhed and the genre-bending experimentalists Mr. Bungle. Singer-songwriter Virgil Shaw previously played in Arcata outfit Brent’s T.V. Bassist Ellis had been a founding member of the local disbanded funk rock band Psychefunkapus, and Jonathan Segel was a former member of local indie-faves Camper Van Beethoven.

The band signed a recording contract with independent label Amarillo Records in the early 1990s. Dieselhed released three full-length albums for Amarillo while maintaining a national touring schedule throughout the 1990s, often accompanied by road manager John Tynan.

Crutch – Garage Recording 1996

This Crutch recording was made in my garage 1870 W 18th ave in Eugene, Oregon during summer 1996. James Forbes on bass and singing; Marten Bradley on guitar and singing; Jessie Wickman on drums. They parked their orange van in my driveway and hung out for several days. It was a blast having them as company. I can remember Jessie teaching my kid Cosmo how to do paradiddles with drumsticks on the concrete porch. James had this killer tiny red portable travel bong that we reefed a lot of good herb through. Marten was just cool as fuck. IN the summer heat, we tracked this shit in my hot garage on a mackie 1202 run through a Fostex x26 4 track recorder. The guys did their own vocals at night while I rested up and ate with the family. One of my favorite summer memories.
I don’t know the songs, James might say: hanging stateside is the first one. Sorry, go get bent,

Los Banditos Muertos

From Gary:
This is James Harkins’ horror surf band from Arcata Ca in the early 2000’s. Later became the Invasions. Recorded by Max Brotman it was James on guitar, me on bass and Ben Hawkens on drums. We practiced at the Winston Smith house in Windsong Village and played a shit ton of shows in Arcata. Highlights were playing at Alchemy’s 330 Club warehouse opening for Phantom Limbs and Ding Dang another time there. James was an avid surfer so this was when he nicknamed me Sharkbait for bloodying and breaking myself so repeatedly while trying to surf at Moonstone, Powerpoles, and especially State Beach. Total kook but eventually I could get up on a funboard but then decided I wanted to live a little while longer so now I’m just a hodad. Fun times indeed!

Scary Gary – Death Bass
Dead Ben – Cave Drums
Creepy James – Zombie Git Box
