Man I wish i had been there for this show. I probably missed it by a week. Anyhow, Jesse, Benny, CC, McGonagle, and HA on bass. Seriously good energy here and a pretty decent recording. ‘Black Box’ is one of my favorite songs and I think this is the only legit recording of it.
My Name Is Chris – Oxymoron EP.
This tape was on it’s dying legs. sliced up and layers splitting. I took the fucker apart and spliced out about a foot or so and put on a new sprocket. good as new – and all we lost was about 40 seconds of Cyprus Hill! Best I know this is the last MNIC recordings and I think Matt C was on some of these. Also, part of this version of ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ was on Craig’s Greasy Stain comp.
Early Sin Men Live Show
This is rad. An early live Sin Men show with mean heshers and all. This is a great recording and a super fun moment in time. Hopefully someone can fill in the blanks about where and when.
14kt. Sedan – Practice 4 Track
Robb, Josh, and Chris. Listen close to hear CC’s vocals and noise maker. It’s tough to find it in there but you will after a few listens. I’m sad I basically missed this band while I was living out of town.
Sandbox Bully – Precious Vinyl
Robb, Josh, and Matt get after it with some wild shit in here. These tracks sound great. Brandon recorded most of this, and McGonagle did the Screamery recordings.
Cosmetic Puffs – Original Band Raw 4 Track
This is one of my favorite projects I have ever been a part of. Something about the way the recording came out is just so raw and killer. Great performances! Anyhow, this is the raw 4 track tape. I did some eq and panning to round things out a bit. We recorded this in Myrtle Town and played a show that night at the Vista which was scheduled pretty last minute. I wish there were a recording of that show kicking around. Doubt it though. The instrumentals on the tape ended because I broke a bass string!
Me, Kevin, Mcgonagle, CC, and Cometbus on the drums.
Audio Wreck – 4 Track Mix Down 02/16/2000
This tape is rad. Most of the stuff on here was recorded at Chris and my place above the Ritz. I had just moved back from San Francisco, and Chris & Robb were doing demos. Most all of this is even before Josh joined the band. Also there is an A street practice version of Chewable Razors, and several original demos.
Six Volt Amps – 4 Track
Here is one of Ray’s tapes. Sounds like this is early on for the band. Early version of ‘Hesher’?
Brent’s TV – Demo
Jon Quittner et al. doing their jangly punk thing. I really love this recording and notice how much later stuff in the area pulled from these guys. Recorded April 1990 at the I Street house in Arcata.
Agent 86 – Scary Action
I don’t really know anything about these guys. Definitely some dirty 80’s punk shit here for you!
